About Okana Care

Built to make motherhood’s most overlooked transitions easier to understand.

Okana Care is a maternal education and wellness company helping women prepare for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with credible information, thoughtful tools, and a whole-person perspective.

We begin with postpartum because it is often the least explained, least prepared-for, and most overwhelming part of the maternal journey.

Why we exist

Postpartum should not begin without a map.

Pregnancy and birth receive months of attention. Postpartum often arrives without the same preparation.

After birth, a mother may be navigating physical recovery, feeding decisions, interrupted sleep, emotional changes, a shifting identity, and the responsibility of caring for a newborn—all at once. Yet the information she receives can feel fragmented, rushed, or focused almost entirely on the baby.

We organize maternal-health information into clear, practical education that helps women understand what may be happening, recognize when something deserves attention, prepare meaningful questions, and make informed decisions alongside their healthcare team.

Okana Care was created to help close that gap.

A different approach

Postpartum recovery is not one-dimensional.

We believe postpartum recovery should be intentional, structured, and thoughtfully supported—not treated as an afterthought. Our approach considers the physical, emotional, environmental, and everyday realities of becoming a mother.

01 Preparation begins earlier

Postpartum preparation belongs within pregnancy—not after the baby arrives. Earlier education creates time to ask questions, identify support, and make practical plans.

02 Clarity without overwhelm

Maternal-health information can be fragmented and difficult to interpret. We organize it thoughtfully so women can understand what is relevant, what questions to ask, and when to seek additional care.

03 The mother remains part of the story

The wellbeing of the baby matters deeply—and so does the wellbeing of the mother. Our education considers her recovery, identity, environment, relationships, and quality of life.

04 A whole-person perspective

Recovery is not one-dimensional. Physical health, emotional wellbeing, nourishment, sleep, environment, education, and support are interconnected.

Our founder

Created with clinical perspective. Centered on mothers.

Okana Care was founded by Dr. Lahnor Powell, ND, MPH—a Naturopathic Doctor, public-health professional with a focus on community medicine, maternal-health advocate, and mother of three.

With more than nine years in the maternal-health space, Dr. Powell has seen how frequently women receive information without the context, preparation, and continuity needed to use it confidently.

Her understanding of this gap is also informed by personal experience. After the birth of her first child, even with access to medical care and professional knowledge, she encountered the emotional and mental overwhelm that can accompany the postpartum transition.

Okana Care was built from that gap.

The meaning of Okana

Open skies. New beginnings.

The name reflects our belief that motherhood deserves space: space to recover, to learn, to ask questions, to adjust, and to begin again with greater clarity.
